A very simple iPhone/iPod Touch game that teaches kids (ages 6 to 12) how to recycle their garbage. It will teach them how to sort item into the different categories and about personal responsibility.
Categories are based on British Columbias (Canada) recycling rules.
The application consists of three main components:
- A sorting game that teaches the correct categorization of different types of garbage. In the game, different pieces of garbage come down a conveyor belt and the objective is to sort them according to their type. For example, bottle of milk go into the blue recycle bin and news papers go into the yellow "mixed paper" bag. The player is then scored based on the correctness of how they placed the garbage into the correct bins.
- A "recycle tracker" application, in which kids can record how much their recycled in a month. The tracker calculates the total "earned" at the end of the month, based on rates in British Columbia. The parents then can choose to give that amount to their children. This teaches personal responsibility, because it rewards children for doing the right thing.
- Integration with GPS and Maps to locate the closest recycle depots.
